“Dr. Carolyn Finney, PhD, storyteller, author and cultural geographer will be speaking at the Fletcher Free Library on Sunday, August 20th at 11 a.m. Her keynote talk will explore themes from her most recent book Black Faces, White Spaces. Her talk will examine the ways that nature and the environment are racialized in America leading to discrimination in outdoor recreation and environmentalism. Coffee, Tea and Donuts from Hangry the Donut Bar will be provided.”

“Liberal and Progressive politics got us here in the first place. We can’t rely on these institutions to take back control over our housing and our lives. Instead, we invite you to join us for a presentation and discussion about how we can build networks of solidarity and political power outside of local government with our unhoused neighbors. We will be joined by organizers from Help Ourselves, a mutual aid organization working directly with the unhoused to build similar networks. Pizza, Soft Drinks, and Childcare will all be included!”
